Densus 88 arrests suspected terrorists in Surakarta


Padangekspres.net-The National Police's Densus 88 counterterrorism squad arrested two suspected terrorists on Friday night and early Saturday in Surakarta, Central Java.
The suspected terrorist identified as RK was arrested on Friday in Serengan, while an individual identified by the initials BH was taken into custody in Laweyan.

“RK was arrested getting off a bus from Cilacap, while BH was arrested on a street near his house,” National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said Saturday as quoted by kompas.com.
Boy said that RK had ties to a terrorist group in Bojong Gede, Bogor, West Java, whose members were recruited in Poso, Central Sulawesi, and he had prepared three homemade bombs to attack police. BH, Boy added, was a group leader and was also found have a bomb at his house.
National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) head Ansyaad Mbai said that both suspected terrorists were related to previous arrests on July, when Mujib and Naim were captured by authorities in Bojong Gede.
From August to September, the police arrested a number of suspected terrorists in different places, including in Jakarta, Bandung, Bojong Gede and Surakarta. Some of the suspected terrorists were shot dead during the raids.
In Surakarta, the police shot and killed Farhan and Mukhsin in an exchange of gunfire on Aug. 31. The two were allegedly linked to the attack on the mosque at the Cirebon Police headquarters and a bombing at the Bethel Church in Surakarta. (swd)
