Padangekspres.net- The Justice and Prosperous Party (PKS) faction at the House of Representatives (DPR) decides to refuse the increase of fuel prices.
"We're against the policy on the increase of fuel prices. All members of PKS faction agree to renounce the plan," said a PKS lawmaker, Refrizal, following a plenary meeting held by the party, today.
However, he said the PKS faction does not disapprove polls that the DPR has scheduled. "Polls are still possible. We have presented the president of our basic reasons to be against the planned fuel price rise," he said.
PKS President, Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq, was not present in the PKS' plenary meeting.
The PKS faction seemed to have echoed the statement produced by Luthfi saying, "We believe President SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) won't let his people to suffer more in anticipation of the coming fuel price rise. Should the government insist on increasing fuel prices, we won't follow."
PKS earlier wrote a letter to the Indonesian president about some recommendations on the fuel price policy, which did not include any issue on fuel price rise.
