Padangekspres.net-NGO of Youth Eradicating Hunger (YEH) Indonesia held a simulation of
early warning, evacuation, and disaster management as landslides, in
Solok, West Sumatera, on Monday (26/12).

Rasjid in Padang, on Thursday, said the simulation was held in Aie
Ampuah, Jorong Kayu Aro, Nagari Aia Dingin, followed Solok units and
standby forum to disasters in the region.
These actions are part of the implementation program of
community-based disaster risk reduction (PRBBK) in this area that have
entered the stage of independent caretaker unit and forums that are
alert to the disaster.
Through these activities, he added, and the units are expected to
alert a forum to be able to better understand disaster early warning,
evacuation, and disaster management as landslides.
The units and standby forum in Jorong Koto Baru and Jorong Kayu Aro
which follow the simulation is expected to reduce disaster risk in the
event of landslides in each region.
West Sumatera is one of the landslide-prone areas partly because of
the topography of this province is hilly and high rainfall during the
rainy season.
In addition, landslides occurred in West Sumatra since the
earthquake shocks such as 7.9-magnitude earthquake occurred on September
30, 2009.
In the disaster, three villages (village level, red) in the Padang
Pariaman District landslides and caused hundreds of deaths and hundreds
