Mudflow compensation to come soon
padangekspres.net-As many as 882 households affected by the Lapindo mud flow in Sidoarjo, East Java, will receive compensation from the government for the property they lost in the disaster once the presidential decree for the compensation is signed on Monday.
The Sidoarjo Mudflow Mitigation Agency (BPLS) spokesman Akhmad Khusairi, however, said that no payment scheme existed yet.
"With the payment scheme, we are still waiting for the technical instructions after the presidential decree is signed," he said on Friday as reported by kompas.com.
The compensation would go to residents of nine neighborhood units.
Vice President Boediono previously said that purchasing the land in the neighborhood units would cost Rp 1.2 trillion (US$136.8 million) from the state budget.
"After the land is owned by the state, the land will be used for the public such as in natural recreation and the like," he said.
