Malaysian military chief gets Indonesian honorary stars

Padangekspres.net-Malaysian Armed Forces chief Gen. Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin received two of the highest honors awarded by the Indonesian government on Tuesday to honor his contributions in developing cooperation between the two countries in the military and defense sectors.

Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro presented the Malaysian general with the Bintang Yudha Dharma Utama and the Bintang Kartika Eka Pakçi Utama at his office, the ministry said in a media release.
Indonesian Military (TNI) chief Adm. Agus Suhartono, Indonesian Army chief of staff Gen. Pramono Edhi Wibowo, Navy chief of staff Adm. Soeparno, Air Force deputy chief of staff Vice Marshal Dede Rusamsi, Defense Ministry secretary-general Vice Marshal Eris Herryanto and other ministry officials attended the ceremony.
The Bintang Yudha Dharma Utama can be conferred, among other recipients, to foreigners who have contributed to the development of the Indonesian Military, while the Bintang Kartika Eka Pakçi Utama is awarded to for great contributions to the Indonesian Army.
Zulkifeli was appointed as Malaysian military chief on June 15, 2011, after serving as the Malaysian army chief. He previously served on the international military monitoring team in Mindanao, the Philippines, from 2004 to 2005. (nvn)
