Padangekspres.net-"If the students get brutal so the teachers should be questioned how it could happen as they do not only teach lessons but also attitudes," said Vice Governor of Jakarta Prijanto.
His remark was addressed to the assault of SMA 6 high school students in South Jakarta to six journalists Monday. Prijanto condemned the brutal action.
"Brutalities may not be committed by anyone, especially students."
Prijanto stated the school management must take full responsibilities on the case as it has roles running education and teaching. Prijanto wondered what the school had taken to anticipate such a brutal action.
The journalists assaulted by students of SMA 6 are photographer of Media Indonesia, Panca Syaukani; photographer of daily Seputar Indonesia, Yudhistiro Pranoto; Aldi Gultom of daily Rakyat Merdeka; Wahyu of Elshinta radio station; Anton, a stringer of Metro TV; and Banar fil Ardhi of Kompas images.
Oktaviardi's video cassette was seized by some students when the Trans7 journalist recorded a brawl between students from SMA 6 and SMA 70 last Friday. More journalists came to the school to stage a solidarity action and ask the school to take responsibility for the incident on Monday.
The students who could not stand the protest ran amok. They hurled stones and bottles besides swinging sharp stuffs and helmets to journalists. (ARN/WIN)
