30% green space for Jakarta unrealistic, Fauzi says

Padangekspres.net-Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said that he would try his best to reduce pollution but admitted it would be difficult to meet the 30 percent open green space target set by the government.
“If you want 30 percent open green space in Jakarta, then there must be an area that is 200 times bigger than the National Monument (Monas) Park. Who would want to move to accommodate the space? If people say Jakarta is crowded, then that is the reality,” he said Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

However, he voiced optimism that the target could be met in future years.
For the time being, Fauzi said, other measures could be taken to overcome air pollution.
“In terms of air pollution, we can reduce it by performing emission checks and using gas fuel as much as possible. Although it does not contain zero carbon, at least gas is a low carbon fuel,” he said.
