Padangekspres.net-Migrant CARE executive director Anis Hidayah is questioning the legitimacy of Jumhur Hidayat’s position as the head of the National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI), as his tenure should have expired last Wednesday.
Anis said Tuesday that, according to a presidential decree that was issued on Jan. 11, 2007, Jumhur would serve as the BNP2TKI head for five years and, thus, his term would end on Jan. 11, 2012.
“If there is no new decree that extends his term, then Jumhur Hidayat no longer has authority as the BNP2TKI head,” she said in a press statement.
Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha did not respond to The Jakarta Post’s question as to whether the President had issued a new decree for Jumhur to serve for another term.
